Tumacácori and Tubac
December 7, 2018
Tis The Season for spices and colonial history and luminarias, oh my! (Not to mention outstanding dining and shopping and art galleries, and more, oh my!!)
What a lovely day we have planned – first, a trip to the Santa Cruz Spice and Chile Factory, a long-established family-run store in Tumacácori. We will then take a guided tour of the Tumacácori National Historical Park. Tumacácori sits at a cultural crossroads in the Santa Cruz River Valley, where O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache people met and mingled with European Jesuit and Franciscan missionaries, settlers, and soldiers. The buildings and grounds have been well-preserved, and the mission church-style visitor center is beautiful. Next, we will head to the Stables Restaurant at Tubac Country Club for a late, delicious lunch, before allowing ample time to explore Tubac’s shops and galleries into the early evening so that you may see the hundreds of luminarias lining the buildings, walls and sidewalks of this iconic artists’ town.
We hope you bring your holiday walking shoes for a Southern Arizona celebration!
