This 5-day and 4-night adventure is always popular. The highlight of this tour is the Tournament of Roses Parade, in Pasadena, California—one of the most widely recognized parades in the world. This year we stay close to the ocean in Marina del Rey, take in the Rose Parade, see float decorating, enjoy the sights of Los Angeles and have a festive New Year’s Eve celebration cruise.

Day 1

After getting picked up at your home by our livery service, we board our motorcoach and travel west to beautiful Marina del Rey, California and check into the Hilton Garden Inn for 4 nights. The marina is North America’s largest man-made small-craft harbor and is home to approximately 5,000 boats. A local shuttle is available throughout the stay to explore the area, with its many restaurants, shops and beaches, including Venice Beach, at your leisure.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, we visit Los Angeles’ Museum Mile to tour world-class attractions. First, the La Brea Tar Pits; one of the world’s most famous fossil localities, and its museum displays Ice Age fossils—including saber-toothed cats, dire wolves and mammoths—from 10,000 to 50,000-year-old asphalt deposits. Second, the Petersen Automotive Museum, which features 100,000 sq. ft. of exhibits, 25 galleries, and over 300 vehicles. See state-of-the-art displays of race cars, classic cars, vintage motorcycles, concept cars, celebrity and movie cars, and auto design and technology. Our tour includes a “behind the scenes” tour of some of the most unique cars in the collection within The Vault, including some which have rarely been seen by the public. After these two amazing museums, we will have dinner back in Marina del Rey. (B,D)

Day 3

Today is New Year’s Eve. We have breakfast at the hotel, and then we spend the morning at a favorite event — observing the creation and decorating of the flower-laden floats that you will see in the parade. We then take a tour of Los Angeles featuring Downtown, Olvera Street, and Hollywood. Tonight, we celebrate the upcoming New Year with a sunset dinner cruise aboard a private yacht, followed by fireworks. You will never forget how you rang in 2020! (B,D)

Day 4

Happy New Year! After breakfast, we travel to Pasadena to take our reserved grandstand seats that provide us a great view of the most photographed event in the world — the Tournament of Roses Parade! All of America’s eyes will be on Pasadena as the breathtaking floats roll down Colorado Blvd. This year’s theme is “The Power of Hope.” It promises to be a parade full of fun, flowers, music and memories! After the parade, we will enjoy a group lunch before spending a relaxing afternoon of free time for shopping or going to the beach. (B,L)

Day 5

After breakfast, we travel back to Tucson with many happy memories of the Tournament of Roses Parade and other festivities. Ring in the New Year with us! (B)

Activity Level Rating

Level 2: Relaxed

Expectations: This tour requires light physical activity combined with shorter travel days. Tour members should expect intermittent walking, with occasional slight inclines and stair climbs, including boarding the motorcoach. Activities may include an occasional city or nature walking tour, stopping along the way. Guests should be able to climb a set of stairs, walk up or down slight slopes and navigate some uneven terrain or cobblestone.

Appropriate for: Travelers who are somewhat physically fit and comfortable with longer days of touring (both walking tours and coach time).

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information, and where you can be reached in case of an emergency.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.


It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.


The traditional end-of-tour gratuity to your tour director is not included. If you feel your Tour Director helped you enjoy your tour, we suggest you enclose a gratuity in an envelope and present it individually at the end of the tour. Simply as a guideline, one may consider a per person, per day gratuity of $8.00 per tour guide as an average to be modified by one’s own personal experience. All hotel porterage and airport skycap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Maid tips are not included.


For your convenience, we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)


If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.

Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.


We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.

The average daytime high temperatures during our stay in the Los Angeles area is typically in the upper 60’s and the average night-time temperature is usually upper 40’s. It can be pretty chilly the morning of the parade, especially at or before sunrise. Typically, the air is much more humid than in Tucson. Please be sure to bring a sweater and/or rain jacket, along with good walking shoes and a hat. There are no dress codes for the areas we take you on this tour.
