Day 1 - Departure

We leave the Tucson airport on our overnight flights to Bordeaux.

Day 2 - Arrival to Bordeaux

Upon arrival, we clear immigration and transfer to our luxurious ship for our 7-night cruise. (Dinner)

Day 3 - Libourne and Saint Émilion

This morning, we take in the romance of the Bordeaux region on a scenic morning cruise. We dock in Libourne, a gateway to one of Bordeaux’s most elite wine regions. We can join an excursion to Saint Émilion, known for its celebrated vineyards, and explore the monolithic church carved out of one piece of limestone rock. Afterwards, we enjoy a Grand Cru Classé wine tasting. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 4 - Libournce to Blaye

Today we explore more of Libourne, while strolling through the colorful, open­air market, tasting some of the region’s specialties. Later in the day, we set sail for Blaye, where we’ll enjoy an evening at leisure. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 5 - Bourg

In Blaye, we can join a tour of its 17th ­century citadel, then sail to Bourg. In Bourg, we might visit the Carriage Museum, which houses a wonderful collection of horse­drawn vehicles. Later in the day, we experience an exclusive wine festival where we meet the local wine growers and taste wines and enjoy live French music and dancing. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 6 - Pauillac and Vineyards

Pauillac, a lovely village on the Left Bank of the Gironde Estuary, is gateway to the famed Médoc region, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest Bordeaux wines. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 7 - Cadillac and Castle Roquetaillade

Today, we dock in Cadillac where we visit the impressive Castle of Roquetaillade, then travel to the Sauternes wine region to taste the highly prized golden­hued sweet wines produced here. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 8 - Bordeaux and Les Halles de Bacalan

We arrive in Bordeaux, the breathtaking capital of the wine world. We’ll experience much of the rich culture and architecture on a city tour followed by a visit to the famed indoor Les Halles de Bacalan market for a tasting of local specialties. In the evening, we enjoy a spectacular illumination cruise, gazing at the iconic structures of Bordeaux as they glow against the night sky. (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 9 - Disembarkment and Amboise

We disembark the AmaDolce and transfer to Amboise in the Loire Valley for two nights. (breakfast)

Day 10 - Loire Valley

Today we visit three of the Loire Valley’s regal châteaux: the Château de Chenonceau, one of the most beautiful castles in France, the Château du Clos Lucé (da Vinci’s last home) and the Château d’Amboise, where da Vinci is buried. (breakfast)

Day 11 - Paris

We check out of our hotel en route to Paris, visit two more majestic châteaux Chateau de Chambord and Chateau de Bois. We arrive at our Paris airport hotel. (breakfast)

Day 12 - Home

We return home to Tucson, full of good wines and great memories of beautiful Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. (breakfast)

Expectations: This tour requires light physical activity combined with shorter travel days. Tour members should expect intermittent walking, with occasional slight inclines and stair climbs, including boarding the motorcoach. Activities may include an occasional city or nature walking tour, stopping along the way. Guests should be able to climb a set of stairs, walk up or down slight slopes and navigate some uneven terrain or cobblestone.

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has a day-by-day breakdown of times and events, and hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.


It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and providing it to a friend or family member.


All hotel baggage handling fees are included. We also include basic gratuities for the Tour Director, Coach Driver, Livery Drivers and local Tour Guides.

Hotel housekeeping tips are not included.


For your convenience, we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)


At time of booking or as soon as possible please notify us of mobility limitations or food allergies. We will forward these to restaurants and attractions as needed. Please also let us know if you have dietary preferences. We usually can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets.


We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed. If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please let us know at booking or as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you.
