Leave the heat of the Arizona summer behind and travel to cooler climates and deep green colors in Central California. Nature’s grandeur unfolds before you; from larger-than-life sequoias and redwoods to sparkling emerald and blue mountain lakes, as we visit and stay inside three national parks in California: Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon. We also cruise on scenic Lake Tahoe and enjoy a stay in Mammoth Lakes, among other treats. This is a California vacation you’ll never forget!

Day 1 – California here we come!
We leave the summer head behind and travel to California. Tonight, we check in for one night at the Embassy Suites in Glendale.
Day 2 – Sequoia National Park
We venture into Sequoia National Park today to tread in the footsteps of giants, beneath the soaring sequoia canopy. After dinner we check in for one night at the Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park. (B,D)
Day 3 – Kings Canyon National Park
This morning we visit the world’s largest living tree, General Sherman and along the Majestic Mountain Loop to Kings Canyon National Park. Gaze toward the sky to greet the giant boughs of General Grant Tree and enjoy a birds-eye view of the Kings Canyon. This evening we arrive at the Yosemite Valley Lodge where we stay three nights in the park. (B,L)
Day 4 – Yosemite National Park
Today we enjoy the Glacier Point Tour, a spectacular four-hour round-trip journey that takes you from the Valley to Glacier Point. This location towers 3,200 feet above the valley floor, and offers panoramic views of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Nevada and Vernal Falls, as well as the magnificent High Sierras in the distance. Glacier Point provides a breathtaking view of the park’s most beloved sites. (B,L)
Day 5 – Exploring Yosemite
Today you have a free day to explore or hike as you wish within Yosemite using their convenient shuttle system. Yosemite Falls is just an easy walk from the hotel! Tonight, we join enjoy dinner at the historic Ahwahnee Hotel – completed in 1927 – which features a unique blend of Art Deco, Native American, Middle Eastern and Arts/Crafts Movement design influences. Day 6 – Lake Tahoe
This morning we travel to beautiful Lake Tahoe where we take a leisurely cruise in Emerald Bay. Lake Tahoe is the 2nd deepest lake in the US and the 10th deepest in the world. Crystal clear waters shimmer against the green pine tree clad mountains as we cruise along, before we check into our hotel for a one-night stay. (B)
Day 7 – Mono Lake & Mammoth Lakes
We continue our visit of California Lakes with an informative stop at the Mono Lake visitor center before lunch at the Mono Lake Inn. Located in California’s spectacular Eastern Sierra, Mono Lake is a vital habitat for millions of migratory and nesting birds. We continue to beautiful Mammoth Lakes and check in to our hotel for one night. Enjoy the afternoon in this mountain resort town with an option to take a tramway up the slopes. Devil’s Postpile National Monument is accessible by shuttle and a short hike. (B,L)
Day 8 – Scenic 395
One of California’s great highway drives, Highway 395, traces a vertiginous meeting of desert and mountains. First, we stop in Lone Pine where we get an amazing view of Mount Whitney from the visitor center. Then we continue to Boron to the Borax Visitor Center where homage is paid to the Borax brand’s 19th-century origins, when 20-mule teams truly did the heavy lifting (a life-size model of such a mule team rings the parking lot). We spend our final night at the Ayres Hotel Moreno Valley where we have our farewell dinner. (B,D)
Day 9 – Return to Arizona
After a glorious tour of the National Parks and mountain lakes of California, we return home with incredible photographs and even more incredible memories. (B)

ACTIVITY LEVEL RATING
Level 3: Moderate
Expectations: Expect a moderate amount of walking. There will be time to rest on the coach and between attractions. To enjoy this tour, you should be prepared to walk slightly longer distances, climb stairs and tolerate periods of standing, for example on city walks, sightseeing stops or ship excursions. The daily pace and timing can fluctuate significantly between longer and shorter travel days, with additional activities possibly occurring in the early morning or evening. There may be some changes in altitude or temperatures.
Appropriate for: Most travelers beginning with those who are moderately fit, lead semi-active lives, are comfortable participating in long days of activities and expect some physical exertion.

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.
The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.
It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.
GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE
All hotel baggage handling fees are included. We also include basic gratuities for the Tour Director, Coach Driver, Livery Drivers and local Tour Guides. If someone has truly gone above and beyond additional tipping is permitted, but never required.
For your convenience, we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)
With passenger health in mind, we are not currently offering daily seat rotation. You will have an assigned seat and boarding order to allow for social distancing among passengers. At booking let us know if you prefer Front, Middle or Back of motorcoach. Each section comprises 4 to 5 rows. We will try to accommodate all requests. If we are unable to honor all requests, preference will be given based on date of your tour deposit.
If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.
Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.
We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING/MISC. SUGGESTIONS
The average daytime high temperatures during our stay in California is typically in the middle 70’s and the average night-time temperature is usually middle 50’s. When we are on or close to the Lakes those temperatures may drop 5-10 degrees or more. Typically, the air is much more humid than in Tucson and we can expect some Summer storms. Please be sure to bring a sweater and / or rain jacket, along with good walking shoes and a hat. There are no dress codes for the areas we take you to on this tour.
