Day 1 – Rancho de Los Caballeros
We begin our journey by traveling to Rancho de Los Caballeros, a family-owned dude ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona, where we enjoy an overnight stay. Participate in ranch activities such as a nature walk with their resident naturalist and watching the afternoon horse run when the horses return from the corral to their pasture. Or arrange to go horseback riding. We enjoy wonderful ranch hospitality at our welcome dinner, followed by an “armchair” nature walk presentation. (L,D)
Day 2 – Grand Canyon West
After our breakfast at the ranch we continue to Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Tribal lands near the Nevada Border. We visit three amazing viewpoints, have lunch, watch a traditional Hualapai performance, tour an authentic Native American village, and walk the magnificent Skywalk. This 10-foot wide, horseshoe-shaped glass bridge extends 70 feet out over the rim of the Grand Canyon. Look down and you can see right through the glass platform 4,000 feet to the floor of the Canyon below, which offers unparalleled views of one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders. Tonight, we check in for a one-night stay near Las Vegas. (B,L)
Day 3 – Red Rock / Death Valley Parks
This morning we visit the impressive Red Rock Canyon State Park, which features scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations and their wonderful Visitor Center. After a lunch stop, we make our journey to Death Valley National Park which encompasses over 3.3 million acres! Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life survives in Death Valley – a total of 1,042 plant species, 51 species of native mammals, 346 types of birds, 36 classifications of reptiles, six types of fish and five species of amphibians have all managed to thrive in this extreme climate! The afternoon finds us checking into our comfortable accommodations for the next two nights at the Ranch at Death Valley. (B,L)
Day 4 – Death Valley
Today we further tour Death Valley, visiting amazing locations in this isolated region, including Ubehebe a large volcanic crater 600 feet deep and half a mile across. While at the Ranch we include free time so that you can relax, swim (their spring-fed, flow-through pool is a constant 84 degrees) and enjoy the property. We enjoy a group outdoor barbecue meal tonight. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Death Valley to Laughlin
This morning discover such sights as Badwater – the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere – and Devil’s Golf Course – a unique desert area featuring halite salt crystal formations formed by the minerals of a past lake. We depart Death Valley and journey to Laughlin, Nevada for an overnight stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino. This afternoon we enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Colorado River. (B)
Day 6 – Wickenburg to Home
As we travel home today once again through Wickenburg, we have lunch at customer-favorite Wickenburg Ranch before returning home. (B,L)
You have the option to link this tour to our Grand Canyon National Park & Railway tour February 25-27 by spending the night in Chandler, Arizona–just ask how!
