This morning we visit the Bowers Museum to explore their extensive collection featuring notable strengths in the areas of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, Native American art, the art of Asia, Africa and Oceania, and California plein-air painting. Afternoon finds us at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Founded in 1776 by Fr Junipero Serra, the mission has been lovingly maintained and it is a peaceful spot to explore. Afterwards, we have some free time to explore Laguna, go to the Sawdust Art Festival, walk down to the beach, or browse the Festival of the Arts, where we marvel at the beautiful works of fine art on display. Then we settle into our reserved seats for the 2020 Pageant of the Masters. This is the 87th year that the pageant has provided a unique blend of breathtaking theatrical “living pictures” and combines a live symphony orchestra and narration. (B)
Today we visit The Huntington Museum of Art, founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington. His special interest in books, art and gardens led him to collect rare and unusual manuscripts, paintings and plants. We begin with a guided tour of the galleries before treating ourselves to a delicious English Tea in the lovely Rose Garden. In the afternoon, we’ll have a guided tour of some of the gardens as well as free time to roam at your leisure. (B,L)
We begin our morning with a short journey to Newport Beach, where we board the Catalina Flyer for a 90-minute boat trip to sunny Avalon on Catalina Island. We take you on a tour of the Island, The Avalon Scenic Tour, which shows us the highlights of the main community, and to the Catalina Island Museum. We enjoy some free time visiting the great shops and eateries in Avalon, before heading back to the mainland for our final night dinner in Newport. (B,D)
After breakfast at the hotel we journey to Southern Arizona with great memories of a world class event and superb sights! (B)

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.
It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.
GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE
The traditional end-of-tour gratuity to your tour director is not included. If you feel your Tour Director helped you enjoy your tour, we suggest you enclose a gratuity in an envelope and present it individually at the end of the tour. Simply as a guideline, one may consider a per person, per day gratuity of $8.00 per tour guide as an average to be modified by one’s own personal experience. All hotel porterage and airport sky cap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Maid tips are not included.
For your convenience we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)
If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.
Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.
We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.
