Day 1

Today we travel from Tucson to beautiful Lake Havasu in western Arizona, with a stop in Phoenix at lunchtime, and check in to the Nautical Inn Resort for our stay tonight. The London Bridge, relocated from England, links the Lake Havasu mainland to marinas and a looped path in an area known as the Island. We will enjoy the Holiday Lights Boat Parade all evening, with stunning lake views from the restaurant during our welcome dinner, as well as from our lakeside patios in each guestroom. (D)

Day 2

We will take a jet boat tour up the Colorado River to discover the wildlife and geology of the Topock Gorge and enjoy a group lunch at Pirate Cove. On our way to Palm Springs, we will visit Joshua Tree National Park, known for its wonderful rock formations and the stark beauty of the twisted, spiky Joshua Trees. Tonight, we check in to the Hilton Palm Springs, and you will have free time to stroll through downtown Palm Springs and view their annual Festival of Lights Parade. (B, L)

Day 3

This morning we will enjoy the scenic Palm Springs Aerial Tramway ride to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, where multiple observation points offer 360-degree views of the desert floor and wildness areas. We continue to take in the breathtaking views and scenery of Mt. San Jacinto State Park at our mountain top lunch. Then we return to Palm Springs for a mid-century architecture and celebrity home tour. In the afternoon, we travel to Riverside to check in to the historic Mission Inn. We will enjoy their festival of lights, which includes 3.6 million brilliant lights that transform Riverside’s historic hotel into pure magic. This event is said to be one of the largest collections of lights in the nation. (B, L)

Day 4

After three fantastic days of sightseeing and holiday experiences, we return to Tucson. (B)

ACTIVITY LEVEL RATING

Level 1: Easy

Expectations: Little to no walking. Traveling at a leisurely pace, this itinerary requires a small amount of physical activity. Depending on the itinerary details, guests will need to be prepared to board a plane, bus, boat, ferry or ship. There will be some walking to rooms, cabins or restaurants and general points of interest. This may also include an occasional flight of stairs or some steps during transfers and stops.

Appropriate for: Travelers with lower mobility and who are comfortable participating in at least three hours of activity per day.

Visit our Activity Level Ratings page under Plan Your Tour for full information on the ratings system.

ITINERARY

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.

EMERGENCY CONTACT

It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE

The traditional end-of-tour gratuity to your tour director is not included. If you feel your Tour Director helped you enjoy your tour, we suggest you enclose a gratuity in an envelope and present it individually at the end of the tour. Simply as a guideline, one may consider a per person, per day gratuity of $8.00 per tour guide as an average to be modified by one’s own personal experience. All hotel porterage and airport skycap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Maid tips are not included.

LIVERY

For your convenience, we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)

LODGING REQUESTS

If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.

Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.

TRAVEL REQUESTS

We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.
