Today we explore Niagara Falls.  We start with a cruise on the Hornblower that takes us under the falls – be sure to wear your provided slicker!  Next is Skylon Observation Tower, where we will see the complete 360-degree view and have lunch. Then, we return to Toronto where we enjoy a city tour before dinner on our own.  B

Day 3 - Train Departure

The Canadian train departs early this morning for three glorious nights on board. Our journey parallels the Yellowhead Route, Canada’s original route of western exploration. We head west. B (L,D included with Sleep Plus Class)

Day 4 - Laurentian Plateau

Our three-day train ride passes through the forests of the Canadian Shield and on to the endless prairie and expansive farms of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. (B,L,D included with Sleep Plus Class)

Day 5 - Canadian Rockies

We enter Alberta and the prettiest part of our journey past Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, across the Yellowhead Pass over the Continental Divide, and down to Jasper. (B,L,D included with Sleep Plus Class)

Day 6 - Jasper National Park

We detrain early in Jasper to begin our sightseeing of the fabulous Canadian Rockies. First stop is Maligne Canyon whose depth and narrowness are astonishing. The route along the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff is one of the most scenic in the Canadian Rockies. Jagged, glacier-covered peaks line both sides of the narrow valley. Wildlife is often seen along the way. After a visit to Athabasca Falls we reach the Columbia Icefield Centre. We board a giant snowcoach for a ride on the Athabasca Glacier, then savor a delicious lunch. We stop at turquoise colored Peyto Lake, a rare gem. We lodge two nights in Banff. L

Day 7 - Banff

Beautiful Banff awaits our exploration.  This morning we can enjoy free time or join a driving tour of Banff. The drive stops at Surprise Corner, where we see Bow Falls, Hoodoo Viewpoint, Cascade Rock Garden, and many other sites. In the afternoon, we ride gondola cars up Sulphur Mountain, named for the two sulphurous hot springs found on its lower slopes. The awe inspiring, 360-degree views of six mountain ranges, the Bow Valley and the town of Banff will amaze us. B

Day 8 - Jasper

We board our coach for our return to Jasper, where we will have free time in the afternoon and lodge one night. B

Day 9 - Onboard the Train

Our old friend, The Canadian, is waiting to take us on an overnight and final leg of our trans-Canada journey. (Br, D included with Sleep Plus Class)

Day 10 - Victoria

We arrive in Vancouver, depart our train and board the ferry to Victoria across the scenic Strait of Georgia. Once ashore, it is a short drive to Butchart Gardens where a profusion of colors greets us. Flowers of every description grace this old limestone quarry, now a National Historic Site. It takes 50 full-time gardeners to tend its 45 lush acres! We lodge one night at the Hotel Grand Pacific on Victoria’s picturesque Inner Harbour. (B included with Sleep Plus Class)

Day 11 - Fly Home

We return to the mainland by ferry and into Vancouver, a gorgeous city with mountains in the background and the sea in the foreground.  From Vancouver we’ll head home. B

ITINERARY

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.

AIRLINE TICKETS

You will be issued your boarding pass the morning of our departure, after your arrival at the Tucson International Airport. If you have an frequent flyer number, or a TSA number, please call our office at least 3 days prior to the tour to ensure we can note these in your reservation.

If you are joining the tour from locations other than Tucson, we make other arrangements for you to join the tour. Please call our office for more details.

AIRPORT SECURITY

You will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months prior to travel. Do not forget to bring your government issued picture ID to show at the airport. If you do not have proper ID, the airline will turn you away.

BAGGAGE

We have arranged for handling for one piece of luggage per person regarding the skycaps (where available) and hotels. If you check through luggage note that the maximum weight for the checked piece of luggage is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). If your bag weighs over 50 pounds the airlines will levy an extra fee that you will be responsible to pay. If you feel the need to lock your checked through luggage and your bag is searched, your lock could be damaged in the process. You can purchase a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) accepted and recognized lock at any luggage store. Make sure you ask for a TSA approved lock. These locks are the kind that TSA screeners can open by using a special tool without breaking. Passengers can carry-on 1 bag (dimensions are limited to 10x16x24 inches), plus a personal type bag, like a purse. We advise that you pack your carry-on lightly. There are restrictions regarding your carryon baggage and contents due to enhanced
security measures. Attached find a list regarding commonly asked about items as well as an update. If you have further concerns, please visit the TSA's Web-site at www.tsa.gov. There is room inside the motorcoach for your hand carried bag.

CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES

On our airline for this tour, passengers are assessed a $35 fee per checked in bag, by the Airlines, upon checking in for the flight.

EMERGENCY CONTACT

It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE

The traditional end-of-tour gratuity to your tour director is not included. If you feel your Tour Director helped you enjoy your tour, we suggest you enclose a gratuity in an envelope and present it individually at the end of the tour. Simply as a guideline, one may consider a per person, per day gratuity of $8.00 per tour guide as an average to be modified by one’s own personal experience. All hotel porterage and airport sky cap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Maid tips are not included.

LIVERY

For your convenience we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)

LODGING REQUESTS

If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.

Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.

TRAVEL REQUESTS

We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.
